Teachers on Summer Break

What is your summer break teacher style? We're not talking about your fashion choices, but how you choose to spend your summer. Here are a few examples:

The "Out of Sight, Out of Mind" Teacher

  • Has not looked inside school bag or opened school email since coming home on the final teacher workday.
  • Lets out an audible groan when seeing the back-to-school sections at retail stores.
  • Not sure exactly when the new school year begins.

The "Planning the Perfect School Year" Teacher

  • Has filled out new planner with all dates for the upcoming school year (color coded, of course).
  • Has lesson slides created for at least the first week of school.
  • Continually checking if class lists are available yet to be able to create charts and labels.

The "DIY Home Project" Teacher
  • Came into summer break with a list of at least half a dozen home projects to complete.
  • Has spent more time and money at the home improvement center than anywhere else.
  • Most likely has paint or garden soil on their clothing at this moment.

The "Summer Job" Teacher

  • Not sure how other teachers seem to be able to survive 12 months on 10 months of pay.
  • Began working summer job the day after the final teacher workday.
  • Hasn't had a moment free to consider the upcoming school year or any type of "vacation".

What kind of teacher are you? Maybe you are some combination of the above. Let us know in the comments how you are using your time away from the classroom.
